Abstract
This essay analyzes the postmodern relation between cosmetic surgery, research of identity among teenagers and anthropological paradigms in the contemporary society of control and market economy. Different and several powers operate in the same cultural framework and create paradoxical situations: on one hand our society is characterized by homologation, massification, manipulation; on the other hand, individualism, research of a personal identity, and a renewed sense of freedom and belonging are the most important aims of postmodern individuals.
