We are pleased to invite you to the 20^th International Workshop on Neonatology and Pediatrics to be held in Cagliari, Italy on 23-26 October 2024.

This follows the success of the previous 19 editions, 17 in presence and 2 online, which saw the overall presence of about 12,000 participants in presence and 700 online. This 20^th Workshop is an important milestone and is recognized by several international and scientific societies. Some of the world’s most renowned specialists from more than 60 different countries have been present in Cagliari in these years. The Workshops have received the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic (6 years) and UNICEF (4 years). Due to the organization of this meeting, Prof. Fanos has been awarded in 2021 as “Italian Knowledge Leader” by the National Institute of Tourism, Convention Bureau Italy under the Patronage of Ministry of Tourism. The Workshops have created a network of scientific and human relations that have changed, improved and enriched us all. In 2019, the meeting was followed by the 40^th Congress of the Union of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Pediatric Societies (UMEMPS), founded more than 60 years ago. In 2020 and 2021, the meeting was virtual due to the pandemic.

The title of this year workshop, “Children’s health: messages from the future”, underscores the trajectory that necessarily assistance, research and teaching will follow in the coming years, in an integrated way with adult medicine, taking into account what happened or is still going to happen, according to the new science of perinatal programming. A view into the future of perinatology and pediatrics through debates and shared experiences from all the world.

This year, the proceedings of the Workshop will be published in the “Journal of Pediatric and Neonatal Individualized Medicine” (JPNIM), which is indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, official Journal of UENPS (Union of European Neonatal and Perinatal Societies), UMEMPS (Union of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Pediatric Societies) and other 8 important national societies of Italy, Greece, Portugal and Romania. At the end of 2023, JPNIM was awarded a “Journal of high cultural value” prize by the Italian Ministry of Culture.
